About the Artist

Kate Kaplan has been designing jewelry full-time since 2003.  She comes at it from a fresh perspective as she neither wore nor shopped for jewelry before she started making it.  Every summer, Kate goes to William Holland Lapidary School to learn new techniques to incorporate into her designs.  She has studied wire wrapping, chain making, and cold connections, which is working with metals such as copper.  Kate enjoys combining multiple techniques to create unique pieces.  Her pieces contain many diverse materials, including sterling silver, semi-precious gemstones, glass, polymer clay, and magnetic hematite.   She displays her work the Mint Hill Arts gallery at 7714 Matthews Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill NC, and at the MegMichelle jewelry shop in the same building.

Kate is formerly the treasurer of Mint Hill Arts, and is a past volunteer coordinator of the Charlotte Art League where she exhibited and sold her jewelry.  She  lives in Matthews, NC with her daughter, Kayla, son Josh, and husband Alan, who designed this site and is a great Artist Support Spouse.
