About the Artist
Kate Kaplan has been making jewelry for eight years. She
has a fresh and unique perspective. Kate has attended William Holland Lapidary
School for the last eight summers. There she studied wire wrapping, chain
making, lampwork bead making, cold connections, and enameling. Her new work is
primarily in copper with enameling and cold connections.
Kate’s work tends towards the whimsical. She combines different techniques in
her pieces and frequently uses asymmetry and contrasting colors. She has shown
her work in many different shows, winning first place at Inspire! Ballantyne,
and Spring into Arts Concord, second place at Art on Main in Ft. Mill, and an
honorable mention at a juried show at Mint Hill Arts.
She displays her work at the Mint Hill Arts
gallery at 7714 Matthews Mint Hill Rd, Mint Hill NC, and at
the Temple Beth El gift shop, 5101
Providence Road Charlotte, NC 28226. Recently, her jewelry has
been selected to accessorize the one of a kind hand made dresses by
Alice Andrews Designs.
Kate was formerly the treasurer of Mint Hill Arts, and is a past volunteer coordinator of the Charlotte Art League where she exhibited and sold her jewelry. She lives in Matthews, NC with her daughter, Kayla, son Josh, and husband Alan, who designed this site and is a great Artist Support Spouse.
